What Do Dental Implants Cost in Singapore?
on April 15, 2014
If you're weighing your options for replacing missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures, you've likely been told that dental implants are the best option available today, offering distinct advantages over other options in terms of oral health and function, comfort, appearance and longevity, which is most certainly true. You have also probably heard that implant-based dental restoration is not the least expensive option out there, which is also true – at least in terms of initial restoration costs. So just how much do dental implants cost in Singapore, and how does that cost compare with those of other restoration options?
The cost of implant-based dental restorations varies significantly from one patient to another according many factors, so an accurate estimate in your particular case will require a consultation with a Singapore oral surgeon or dental restoration specialist. That said, the Ministry of Health does offer some guidance on average dental implants cost in Singapore.
According to the Ministry of Health, for the period of 1 February 2013 to 31 January 2014, non-subsidized fees for dental implants in Singapore in public institutions ranged from $1,377 - $2,325 per implant, and fees at private dental clinics range from $800 - $5,000. That average cost included the implant and surgery, but not the prosthesis, consultation, X-ray fees and many other associated costs.
While those figures may offer a starting point for estimating the cost of restoring your smile, it is important to note that they only include costs associated with the first step of the restoration process, the placement of the dental implants. Factors like the quality and cost of your prosthetic tooth or teeth will contribute to overall costs, as well as any need for preparatory procedures, such as bone grafts or sinus lifts, among a long list of other variables.
The bottom line is that how much implants cost in Singapore is a question for which there is no cut-and-dried answer. Cost estimates are a very individualized process, requiring the careful evaluation of each patient's individual circumstances, needs and goals. What is clear is that dental implants are often, due to their much greater longevity than all other options, the most cost-effective means of dental restoration over the long run.
While the average implant has a lifespan of 25 years, dental bridges must be replaced every 7 to 10 years, while dentures must be relined or replaced at 5 to 10 year intervals. Dental implants are also easier and less expensive to maintain than other options, needing just regular brushing, flossing and dental cleanings, just like natural teeth. So do see your Singapore oral surgeon for an estimate on the costs of implants before you settle for less – they are a worthy and cost-effective investment in your future dental health.
