BOTOX® in Singapore

BOTOX has become one of the most popular facial cosmetic treatments in Singapore over the last few years, largely due to the effectiveness and relative ease of the procedure as compared to more invasive cosmetic treatments. When administered by a qualified medical professional, BOTOX is a safe and effective procedure that can be used to improve appearance issues that are caused by overactive facial muscles, as well as a number of aesthetic and/or functional dental and jaw issues.

What Is BOTOX®?

BOTOX is a medication that is injected into muscles to cause a controlled weakening in those muscles. The goal of that controlled weakening is to temporarily impair muscle contraction – an affect of BOTOX treatment that typically lasts for a period of 3 to 6 months, depending upon the particular muscles treated. By limiting muscle contraction, BOTOX treatment can improve functional and aesthetic issues that overactive facial muscles can cause.

BOTOX® For The Treatment of Dynamic Facial Lines

Wrinkle reduction is the most common reason that people seek BOTOX treatment. Dynamic lines, creases or wrinkles are created by the contraction of muscles under the skin, causing skin to bunch. Over time, areas of skin that are frequently bunched in this manner can develop permanent lines and furrows that grow gradually deeper and more noticeable over time.

Common examples of dynamic wrinkling are lines around the eyes caused by squinting, commonly called crow's feet, furrows between the eyebrows, known as worry or frown lines, and horizontal creases that develop across the forehead. When injected into the muscles that cause these lines, BOTOX is very effective in erasing or reducing the appearance of these and other dynamic wrinkles, smoothing them away for a more attractive and youthful appearance.

Other Conditions That Can Benefit From BOTOX® Treatment

BOTOX procedures are also commonly used to treat some dental and jaw problems, such as bruxism (grinding of the teeth), or temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ). It can be used to reduce the appearance of a “gummy smile,” and to slim and contour an overly prominent or square jawline caused by overdeveloped facial muscles – a procedure called BOTOX jaw reduction.

How Are BOTOX® Procedures Done?

BOTOX treatment is non-invasive, quick and requires no recovery time. Using fine needles, BOTOX is injected into specific muscles at very precisely planned points to produce the desired muscle inhibiting effects. The average procedure takes about 10 minutes, and the most common after effects are minor redness or irritation at injection sites. Some patients may experience minor bruising, bleeding or inflammation at injection sites. Serious side-effects are very rare with properly performed BOTOX treatments, but can include allergic reactions, vision changes, eyelid drooping or allover muscle weakness.
